If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and he can now appear all over the map. This week, he’s north of the Winding Cove landing zone in the EDZ, and there’s a helpful icon on the planet map to show you where he is. You can find Xur through a tunnel and up the hill, next to the Fallen Ketch.
Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:
- Sweet Business, auto rifle : 29 Legendary Shards
- Lucky Raspberry, Hunter chest : 23 Legendary Shards
- Synthoceps, Titan gauntlets : 23 Legendary Shards
- Skull of Dire Ahamkara, Warlock helmet : 23 Legendary Shards
Sweet Business is a beautiful exotic. All you really need to know about this thing is that it’s a minigun that you can use in your Kinetic slot. Its exotic perk, Payday, causes the gun to hold 99 bullets and have increased hip fire accuracy. But what makes this gun special is the Business Time perk, which increases the weapon’s range and rate of fire when holding down the trigger. As a bonus, any Kinetic ammo you walk over will be instantly loaded into the clip if Business Time is active.
This gun is excellent in almost any PvE scenario. It may have bad reload speed and be poor in PvP, but Sweet Business chews through Cabal, Fallen, Vex and Hive alike. If you’re a Titan able to pair it with Actium War Rig, you can fire for an extremely long time and rarely have to reload. If you play PvE content of any flavor, pick this gun up while you have the chance.
The Hunter exotic this week is Lucky Raspberry. The main perk here is Probability Matrix, which enhances your Arc Bolt grenade, giving it a chance to reset after dealing damage and causing it to chain more effectively. Considering the sorry state of the Arcstrider subclass, it’s hard to recommend this chest for either PvP or PvE activities.
The Titan exotics are the Synthoceps whose exotic perk, Biotic Enhancement, allows Titans to have increased melee lunge range and deal more melee damage when surrounded. These gauntlets are decent for PvE but really shine in a PvP environment. If you like to play aggressively in the Crucible, you should absolutely pick these up.
The Skull of Dire Ahamkara is the Warlock helmet on offer this week. It’s a pretty situational exotic, but it can be devastating when used properly. Its exotic perk, Actual Grandeur, causes you to take very low damage while casting Nova Bomb — and your Nova Bomb kills grant Super Energy instantly. If you can accurately place your Nova Bomb in a large group of enemies — in PvE or even PvP — you will refund quite a bit of super energy. If you like playing Voidwalker at all, this is a solid helmet.
Each of the items comes at a maximum power level of 270 — a base power of 265, plus a Legendary (purple) mod that raises the value by five. This scales to your character’s power level, so make sure you’re buying Xur exotics on your highest level character.
