Destiny 2’s story begins with tragedy. Dominus Ghaul, a Cabal warlord, forced the Guardian out of the Tower that they know and love. Ghaul and his crew of turtle-like aliens marched into the Last City and sapped the light from the Traveler. Guardians will spend Destiny 2 regaining strength to take down Ghaul and his legion of Cabal troops.
The Vanguard, Zavala, Ikora and Cayde also all fled to the four new Destiny 2 worlds that players will explore. The game’s story will deal with the loss of the Guardian’s light and delve deeper into the personalities of the Vanguards.
Based on what was shown at the gameplay reveal event for Destiny 2, it also appears as though players may get a lot more information on the history of the Traveler. With the removal of Grimoire Cards from the game, Destiny 2 will have to be much clearer about its world and the stories within it.
With the Last City in shambles, the Tower taken over by the Cabal and the Speaker missing, Guardians will have no choice but to lead Earth’s finest against the forces of darkness and reclaim the light that they hold so dear.
