The Adventures you’ll unlock and play in Destiny 2 are these delightful little mini-campaign missions. They’re somewhere between Patrols and Quests in size and scope. Most campaigns are straight-forward, waypoint-to-waypoint journeys. Some take a little bit of work to figure out. The Adventure called “Arecibo” on Io is one of the latter.
When you start Arecibo, you and Ghost will hear some strange music. You just have to track it down. In this guide, we’ll show you where you need to go to find the four devices of this Adventure so you don’t spend your time wandering all over Io. Unlike a lot of missions, this one doesn’t give you clear waypoints when you’re close, so we’ve included area names, maps and images to help you find the four locations you need to visit.

You’ll unlock Adventures on Io by completing the main story campaign mission “Fury” and then talking to Asher. On Io, you’ll find “Arecibo” in the Rupture, just east of the entrance to the Pyramidion.
With a recommended Power of 220+, this little mission is no joke. You’ll pick up some Rare gear as a reward, though, so this is a good one to help you get up to a 265 Power level.
When you start the mission, both you and Ghost — but not Asher — will hear some strange music. You just have to track it down.
First location — The Rupture
Hop on your Sparrow and head toward the waypoint on your map. When you get close, the waypoint disappears and you have to play it by ear. Literally. As you walk around, you’ll be able to hear some decidedly out-of-place music when you get close to your target.
The first device is also in the Rupture, not too far from the Adventure’s starting point. It’s in the very southeast, right against the edge of the area. It’s actually right on top of a Gold Crate which should be marked on your map.
Everything about this Adventure is underground, so once you get close, look for a cave or tunnel that will lead you the rest of the way. There are four Vex Goblins in the room where the device (and the Gold Crate) is. Take them out, then examine the device.
Second location — Giant’s Scar
The next location is in Giant’s Scar, so hop back on your Sparrow and head to the northeast. As you approach, you’ll pass through a bridge to get to the excavation site. Head directly across the excavation to the far side. Just to the left of and a little below the controls on the far side, you’ll find a small tunnel in the wall with the next device inside.
Third location — Terrabase Charon
The next device is located in Terrabase Charon a little further north from the excavation site. As soon as you come out of the tunnel into the Terrabase area, Vex will attack. Take out any that are too close for comfort, but you don’t have to go far to find the next device. It’s just to the left and below you — head into the area, U-turn to the left, and shoot all the Vex ahead of you. Inside the tunnel, you’ll find some more sleeping Vex Goblins and the next device.
Fourth location — Warmind Vault JYS-2
The fourth and final device location is in the Warmind Vault in the middle of the world’s map. You can follow your waypoint here, so it won’t be hard to find. This is the end of the Adventure, though, so you should be ready for a fight.
The Vex will come at you in several waves, but you’ll be getting a little help from the strange music. The music will periodically trap the Vex in place and let you damage them without danger. The music will cycle on and off, though, so try not to rely on it too much.
The Vex assault will end with a bunch of Minotaurs and three Cyclops. Once they’re all handled, follow your waypoint again to find the source of the music.
