Destiny 2 guide: How to find gold loot crates

Along with the regular, boring-colored loot crates that you’ll find as you wander the overworlds of Destiny 2, there are some special gold crates to be found. In this guide, we’ll show you how to find gold crates and what you can find inside of them, thanks in part to Reddit user Duneag.

Finding these crates really is as simple as looking at your map. Pull up the Director, and look for a vaguely plus sign-shaped icon — kind of a cross with a dot in the center. These are the locations of the gold crates.

You can’t set a waypoint on these icons, though, so you’ll have to do some legwork. Just keep checking your map to make sure you’re heading the right way.

The loot in these crates is more valuable than in others, so they’re a little more out-of-the-way. But they’re not impossible to get to. Just look around for somewhere it could be hiding. The first one we found was just past the end of a building along the edge of a cliff.

You’ll know you found the right crate because, well, it’s gold and glowing. It’s also got a matching icon on it.

Whenever you’re wandering around a location, keep an eye out for these icons. The first one we opened held 1,000 glimmer and an EDZ Token, so it was well worth the 30 seconds it took to find it.
