If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly Exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and now appears all over the map. This week, he’s on Io. You can find Xur hanging north of the Giant’s Scar, hanging out in a cave.
Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:
- Sweet Business, exotic auto rifle: 29 Legendary Shards
- Orpheus Rig, Hunter boots: 23 Legendary Shards
- Hallowfire Hear, Titan chest: 23 Legendary Shards
- Claws of Ahamkara, Warlock gauntlets: 23 Legendary Shards
- Isochronal Engram: 97 Legendary Shards
Xur’s inventory caps out at 631 if you’re at 650 power — one Light above your Collection. He also offers specific rolls on each armor piece each week, giving out different perks for the same pieces. We’ve highlighted any great rolls below.
Sweet Business is a beautiful exotic. All you really need to know about this thing is that it’s a minigun that you can use in your Kinetic slot. Its exotic perk, Payday, causes the gun to hold 99 bullets and have increased hip fire accuracy. But what makes this gun special is the Business Time perk, which increases the weapon’s range and rate of fire when holding down the trigger. As a bonus, any Kinetic ammo you walk over will be instantly loaded into the clip if Business Time is active.
This gun is excellent in almost any PvE scenario. It may have bad reload speed and be poor in PvP, but Sweet Business chews through Cabal, Fallen, Vex and Hive alike. If you’re a Titan able to pair it with Actium War Rig, you can fire for an extremely long time and rarely have to reload. If you play PvE content of any flavor, pick this gun up while you have the chance.
Orpheus Rig is also one of the best exotics in the game. Its main perk, Uncanny Arrows, generates additional Super energy for each enemy tethered with Shadowshot. This means that a well-placed Hunter Super can instantly regenerate your Super. This is extremely helpful in a few different endgame scenarios, including Nightfalls and Raids. These did get significantly nerfed in Forsaken, but are still very potent. If you like Nightstalker, you have to get these legs.
This week’s roll: This week’s roll has high mobility, with a choice between mobility and resilience. Slot one offers fusion rifle dexterity, hand cannon dexterity and Outreach — class abilities reduce melee cooldown. Slot two offers scout rifle scavenger and special ammo finder. This roll is not too great. If these are your kinda weapons, take a look.
This is a pretty situational exotic chest piece. The main perk is Sunfire Furnace, which improves the recharge rate of your abilities when Hammer of Sol is charged. This exotic forces you to play Sunbreaker, which still isn’t nearly as useful as Striker or Sentinel in any activity. Additionally, Hallowfire Heart will only benefit you when you are holding onto your Super and not using it. This is one of our favorite Titan exotics nonetheless, and can be really powerful if you learn how to use it.
This week’s roll: Medium resilience and medium recovery, with a choice between recovery and resilience. Tier one gives a choice between unflinching fusion rifle aim, unflinching bow aim and unflinching kinetic aim. Tier two offers scout rifle reserves and special ammo finder. This is a decent roll. Kinetic aim will always benefit you, and special ammo finder is nice.
Claws of Ahamkara
The Claws of Ahamkara are new Warlock gauntlets added in Destiny 2’s Warmind expansion. Their exotic perk, The Whispers, grants any Warlock that wears these gloves an extra melee charge. Warlocks have some pretty powerful melee abilities, so these are great gloves if you love getting up close with your enemies.
This week’s roll: This week’s roll has low mobility, medium recovery, with a choice between mobility and resilience. Slot one offers fusion rifle loader, hand cannon loader, and Impact Induction — melee damage grants super energy. Slot two offers sniper rifle scavenger and machine gun scavenger. This roll is actually pretty great, especially if you don’t have any gauntlets with machine gun reserves yet.
