Head to Titan for some exotics

Destiny 2 Xur Bungie/Activision

If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and he can now appear all over the map. This week, he’s on Titan, and there’s a helpful icon on the planet map to show you where he is. You can find Xur just east of The Rig landing zone.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

  • Prometheus Lens, Exotic Trace Rifle : 29 Legendary Shards
  • Celestial Nighthawk, Hunter helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Hallowfire Heart, Titan chest: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Eye of Another World, Warlock helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram: 97 Legendary Shards
  • Three of Coins: 31 Legendary Shards

Each of the items comes at a maximum power level of 305 — a base power of 300, plus a Legendary (purple) mod that raises the value by five. This scales to your character’s power level, so make sure you’re buying Xur exotics on your highest level character.

PROMETHEUS LENS

Prometheus Lens is a new exotic in Curse of Osiris. It used to be one of the most powerful weapons in all of Destiny 2, when a bug (now fixed) caused it to deal ludicrous damage in PvP. Prometheus Lens is still awesome for clearing out large crowds of enemies all at once.

The main perk, Prismatic Inferno, causes Prometheus Lens’ beam grow in size the longer you hold down the trigger. This allows the trace rifle to deal considerable damage in a large area. The gun’s secondary ability, Flame Refraction, makes the first perk even better, allowing kills to return ammo back into the magazine. The more kills you get, the longer you can hold down the trigger and increase your area of damage. No matter what kind of activities you play, Prometheus Lens is a must-have for Curse of Osiris players.

CELESTIAL NIGHTHAWK

Celestial Nighthawk is one of the best exotics in Destiny 2. Its main perk, Hawkeye Hack, causes Golden Gun to fire only one shot instead of three. However, this single shot does about six times the damage of the average Golden Gun. Players who love raiding or PvE in general should buy it. It’s also exceptional for boss damage.

HALLOWFIRE HEART

Hallowfire Heart is a pretty situational exotic chest piece. The main perk is Sunfire Furnace, which improves the recharge rate of your abilities when Hammer of Sol is charged. This exotic forces you to play Sunbreaker, which still isn’t nearly as useful as Striker or Sentinel in any activity. Additionally, Hallowfire Heart will only benefit you when you are holding onto your Super and not using it. This is useful in rare situations like during certain Nightfall modifiers, but otherwise it’s pretty underwhelming.

EYE OF ANOTHER WORLD

You may already have Eye of Another World if you selected it from Sloane right before the Utopia campaign mission. The Cerebral Uplink perk will highlight targets for you and passively increase the regeneration of your grenade, melee and Rift abilities. It’s certainly worth picking up if you don’t have it yet.

Fated Engram

The Fated Engram is new as of the Dec. 12 update. Buying one may be expensive, but it guarantees you an exotic that you don’t have. If you find yourself drowning in Legendary Shards and missing a few key Exotics, this is a pretty great way to spend your Shards. You can only get one per account, once a week. However, some players are reporting that the Fated Engram is failing to give them new exotics. Buyer beware.

Three of Coins

This old farming buff has returned from the Destiny graveyard to help you farm exotics. Also new as of Dec. 12, Three of Coins is a four-hour buff that increases the odds of Exotic engrams dropping in the wild. Bungie clarified their effectiveness, and they don’t seem particularly worth the steep Legendary Shard cost at the moment.
