Destiny 2: Warmind guide — How to get the secret chests in the Spire of Stars raid lair

Traverse the fans to grab some hidden loot

In Destiny 2: Warmind’s raid lair, after the Statue Garden encounter, you’ll end up diving down into the underbelly of the ship once again. There isn’t much to do here until you find your way into the giant room full of fans. Walk forward until you can’t progress any farther.

Once all six of your players are in the fan room, head right and into a small room with a control panel and a lever. When three of your players have entered the room, all three lights will glow green. Pull the now accessible lever to raise the bridge and officially start the jumping puzzle.

To progress in the raid, you’ll need to make your way across the entire fan room, jumping and climbing around the fans and over the electric death traps. There are three more checkpoint rooms along the way that you’ll need to reach each with at least half of your fireteam.

In this fan room, there are two chests that drop raid-level loot, making them worth getting each time you run Spire of Stars. The first is hidden and the second involves a puzzle for your whole team to solve.

The puzzle chest

This puzzle is very cool and involves quite a bit of coordinated ball tossing. You’ll need to throw the ball between each checkpoint room and carry it with you all the way through the fan puzzle. This actually sounds a lot more complicated than it is.

Starting the puzzle

To start this puzzle, stand in front of the doorway to the very first checkpoint room and look to your right. You’ll see a small walkway with a plate on it. Between you and that plate is a wall with pipes all over it. If you look very carefully on this pipe, you’ll see some glowing, blue lights. Shoot the lights on the box until it explodes.

After you’ve destroyed the box, a ball will drop onto the plate across from you. Just like you did in the Statue Garden, you’ll need someone to charge the ball by standing in the fire while holding it. This is where the passing comes into play. Spread your six players out along the puzzle. Keep one player by the ball summon, another on the bridge, two on the fans, and one in the second checkpoint room.

Practice throwing the ball to each other, as trying to run with the ball will get much harder the longer you hold onto it thanks to the Greed stacks. Because of the debuff, move as little as possible. Luckily, you can throw the ball extremely far if you aim correctly.

Keep passing until you get the ball to your person in the checkpoint room. Throw the ball into the small, purple receptacle above the plate on the opposite side of the terminal. Congratulations, you’ve now checkpointed the ball.

The next two checkpoint zones

The process is the exact same for the next two checkpoint zones. Have one player stay where the ball spawns, and then spread out across the jumping puzzle. Learn the trajectory you’ll need to use to aim the ball and keep at it until you are able to checkpoint the ball. Thankfully, you can try over and over again without penalty.

Once you’ve hit the third checkpoint room, you should take a detour to find the hidden chest, which we describe below.

The fourth checkpoint

Make your way to the fourth checkpoint room with the ball and place it into the final checkpoint zone. From here, you have an easy path to the chest. Throw the ball back and forth between your members as you run across the bridge and to the end of the jumping puzzle.

Once you’re on solid ground again, turn left past some boxes and follow the path. You’ll turn right at the end of the hall and find the goal. Throw the ball into the receptacle to open the door. Walk in and enjoy your raid loot. You’ve earned it.

If something goes wrong and you end up checkpointing forward without the ball and unable to progress, return your fireteam to orbit and reload into the raid lair.

The hidden chest

The hidden chest is far less time-consuming than the puzzle chest. As you’re progressing through the fan room, keep an eye on what checkpoint you’re at. Once you hit the third checkpoint room, jump up onto the platform above the terminal. Look around, and you’ll find a window out of the checkpoint room. Jump through it.

Once out of the checkpoint room, leap onto the fan across from you. Make your way through these fans and onto the electric engine on the back of the turbine. Here, you’ll find the Spire of Stars exotic chest.
