Destiny 2 guide: How to upgrade your armor to 400 in Solstice of Heroes

New, 26 comments

Reaching max level in the Solstice of Heroes is going to take some serious grinding

Bungie/Activision

The Solstice of Heroes event has arrived in Destiny 2. Until Aug. 28, players will be able play through Solstice of Heroes and earn themselves some exclusive power-level 400 armor. Participating in Solstice of Heroes is actually the only way to earn 400 armor before Destiny 2: Forsaken is released on Sept. 4. But players will have to work hard to earn that power.

Thanks to some datamining, we have a great idea of what players will need to do to upgrade their armor over the next month. This guide will teach you how to prepare for Forsaken in style, and reach 405 before the event ends.

Objectives

There are a few unique objectives to Solstice of Heroes. Before we talk about what you need to do to complete your armor set, here’s a quick explanation of elemental orbs and Redux missions.

Orbs

One of the many objectives to upgrade your armor will center around elemental orb collection. These arc, solar and void orbs will drop when wearing your Solstice of Heroes armor set. Collecting them will give you a stacking damage boost as well as contribute toward your upgrades.

Redux missions

There are mission statues scattered around the tower during Solstice of Heroes. Walking up to one of these statues will allow you and your Fireteam to replay one of the old story missions in a “Redux” format. These are just more difficult Destiny 2 campaign missions with modifiers on them. This year’s missions are Spark, Homecoming, Chosen, 1AU and Payback.

Upgrading your armor

The different classes have similar objectives to earn each of their armor pieces, with a few key differences. When you log in, you’ll be given the Scorched armor set by the Solstice of Heroes statue vendor. From there, you’ll need to complete a series of objectives to upgrade your armor from Scorched to Rekindled to Resplendent.

Here is what each class will need to do to upgrade their Scorched (240 power) set to Rekindled (340 power).

Once the armor has been upgraded to Resplendent, it will be at 400 power. However, there is one more upgrade for players to earn.

Here is what each class needs to do to upgrade their Resplendent (400 power) set to a Masterwork Resplendent set (400 power).

  • Head - Complete the Prestige Nightfall within the point threshold, which is noted on each strike emblem
  • Arms - Complete five heroic strikes in a group with at least one clanmate

Once you’ve unlocked one of the armor sets, there will be an ornament slot that will allow you to go back to the Scorched or Rekindled appearances.
