If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly Exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and he can now appear all over the map. This week, he’s on Io, and there’s a helpful icon on the planet map to show you where he is. You can find Xur inside a cave, just north of the Giant’s Scar landing zone.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:
- Sunshot, Exotic handcannon: 29 Legendary Shards
- Orpheus Rig, Exotic Hunter boots: 23 Legendary Shards
- Lion Rampant, Exotic Titan boots: 23 Legendary Shards
- Karnstein Armlets, Exotic Warlock gloves: 23 Legendary Shards
- Three of Coins: 31 Legendary Shards
Each of the items comes at a maximum power level of 345 — a base power of 340, plus a Legendary (purple) mod that raises the value by five. This scales to your character’s power level, so make sure you’re buying Xur Exotics on your highest level character.
SUNSHOT
Sunshot is an exotic hand cannon that does Solar damage. It’s also one of the exotics you can choose on Io while playing through the campaign. Sunshot’s first exotic perk is Sunburn, which causes the weapon to fire explosive rounds and highlight enemies that take damage. Its secondary perk, Sun Blast, causes enemies killed by Sunshot to explode.
Sunshot is one of the best exotics in the game. Not only is it fairly useful in some raid scenarios like the Gauntlet, but it’s also just fun to use. You may not do great if you want this to be your main PvP gun, but you’ll still have fun while using it. If you don’t have one, get yourself a Sunshot this week.
ORPHEUS RIG
Orpheus Rig is also one of the best exotics in the game. Its main perk, Uncanny Arrows, generates additional Super energy for each enemy tethered with Shadowshot. This means that a well-placed Hunter Super can instantly regenerate your Super. This is extremely helpful in a few different endgame scenarios, including Nightfalls and Raids. If you like Nightstalker, you have to get these legs.
LION RAMPANT
Lion Rampant is a great exotic to have in specific situations. Its main perk is Jump Jets, which provides additional aerial mobility and now gives more accurate hipfire while in the air. That may not sound like much (and it isn’t, in most cases), but some players swear by these in PvP and some jumping activities like the Gauntlet or the Reactor Room. Pick these up and keep them around, you’ll never know how when you’ll need a more accurate jump.
KARNSTEIN ARMLETS
The Karnstein Armlets are fun, powerful Warlock Exotics. The Exotic perk, Vampire’s Caress, will grant a large amount of health on a melee kill and also apply a heal over time to the user. Karnstein Armlets are must-have gauntlets for any warlock player. They are very powerful in PvE and PvP. Do not let these pass you by if you don’t have them yet.
THREE OF COINS
This old farming buff has returned from the Destiny graveyard to help you farm Exotics. Three of Coins is a four-hour buff that increases the odds of Exotic engrams dropping in the wild. Bungie clarified their effectiveness, and they don’t seem particularly worth the steep Legendary Shard cost at the moment.
