Head to Titan for some Exotics

Destiny 2 Xur

If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly Exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and now appears all over the map. This week, he’s on Titan, and there’s a helpful icon on the planet map to show you where he is. You can find Xur inside a small room, just east of The Rig.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

  • Riskrunner, Exotic submachine gun: 29 Legendary Shards
  • Ophidia Spathe, Exotic Hunter chest: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Mk. 44 Stand Asides, Exotic Titan boots: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Eye of Another World, Exotic Warlock helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Three of Coins: 31 Legendary Shards

Each of the items comes at a maximum power level of 345 — a base power of 340, plus a Legendary (purple) mod that raises the value by five. This scales to your character’s power level, so make sure you’re buying Xur Exotics on your highest level character.

RISKRUNNER

Riskrunner is an interesting exotic, although it’s rarely useful. Be sure to check your vault before you buy, as this is one of the few exotics that Asher offers to you during the campaign.

The exotic perk, Arc Conductor, causes any Arc damage you take to empower your weapon. While Arc Conductor is active, you’ll take reduced Arc damage. This plays in well to its other perk, Superconductor, which causes the bullets fired to chain lightning between enemies when empowered with Arc Conductor, as well as fire endlessly without reloading. Killing enemies while Arc Conductor is active resets the timer.

If you can find a situation where taking Arc Damage is frequent, like the end encounter on the Exodus Crash strike, Riskrunner can be very fun and helpful. Without incoming Arc damage, this gun is essentially just a normal SMG, although still powerful. If you don’t have Riskrunner, you need to pick it up.

OPHIDIA SPATHE

The Ophidia Spathe chest piece’s exotic perk is Scissor Fingers, which lets hunters throw two knives per charge. This exotic is pretty neat, and throwing knives have always been fun to use in Destiny. This piece is also fairly unique, as it lets players hold two charges of their melee ability while also granting them two charges instantly upon recharge. Unfortunately, throwing knives are a bit weak at the moment. However, exotics that give double charges are always fun to use, regardless of the ability strength. Pick this chest piece up if you have some free Legendary shards.

MK. 44 STAND ASIDES

Although they’re technically returning exotics from Destiny, the MK. 44 Stand Asides are new exotic Titan boots in Curse of Osiris. Their main perk in Destiny 2 is Seriously, Watch Out. If Titans have Seismic Strike, Hammer Strike or Shield Bash equipped and have max health, they get an Overshield if sprinting at max speed. Striking an enemy with those abilities quickly recharges your melee energy. This perk is great for aggressive Titan players, especially in PvP. If you have a Titan, pick these up regardless of which activities you play.

EYE OF ANOTHER WORLD

You may already have Eye of Another World if you selected it from Sloane right before the Utopia campaign mission. The Cerebral Uplink perk will highlight targets for you and passively increase the regeneration of your grenade, melee and Rift abilities. It’s certainly worth picking up if you don’t have it yet.

THREE OF COINS

This old farming buff has returned from the Destiny graveyard to help you farm Exotics. Three of Coins is a four-hour buff that increases the odds of Exotic engrams dropping in the wild. Bungie clarified their effectiveness, and they don’t seem particularly worth the steep Legendary Shard cost at the moment.
