If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly Exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and he can now appear all over the map. This week, he’s on Nessus, and there’s a helpful icon on the planet map to show you where he is. You can find Xur hiding out just north of the Watcher’s Grave landing zone, hanging out on a tree.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:
- Skyburner’s Oath, Exotic scout rifle: 29 Legendary Shards
- The Dragon’s Shadow, Exotic Hunter chest: 23 Legendary Shards
- Hallowfire Heart, Exotic Titan chest: 23 Legendary Shards
- Sanguine Alchemy, Exotic Warlock chest: 23 Legendary Shards
- Three of Coins: 31 Legendary Shards
Each of the items comes at a maximum power level of 345 — a base power of 340, plus a Legendary (purple) mod that raises the value by five. This scales to your character’s power level, so make sure you’re buying Xur Exotics on your highest level character.
SKYBURNER’S OATH
The Skyburner’s Oath is a scout rifle modeled after the Cabal’s slug rifle. Its first exotic perk is Slug Rifle, which causes the gun to deal Solar damage and become more powerful when you’re aiming down its sights. The recent exotic update improved these slugs to act more like explosive grenades when being quick-fired. The second exotic perk is For the Empire. This perk makes the gun fully automatic, deal extra damage to Cabal enemies and, most importantly, penetrate the shields of Phalanx enemies.
All of the perks around Skyburner’s Oath make it sound fantastic. While it used to be fairly mediocre, the recent update makes it useful in some situations at best and fun at worst. If you haven’t gotten Skyburner’s Oath yet, it’s definitely worth picking up from Xur.
THE DRAGON’S SHADOW
In terms of Hunter exotics, Dragon’s Shadow is only decent. Its exotic perk, Wraithmetal Mail, will reload all of the Hunter’s weapons when they dodge, which also increases movement and handling speed for a brief time after. This bonus is mostly valuable in PvP. However, Hunters already have Foetracer and other excellent PvP exotics to take. If you’re a hardcore PvP player or find yourself caught 2v1s frequently, pick this up. If none of that applies to you, skip it.
HALLOWFIRE HEART
This is a pretty situational exotic chest piece. The main perk is Sunfire Furnace, which improves the recharge rate of your abilities when Hammer of Sol is charged. This exotic forces you to play Sunbreaker, which still isn’t nearly as useful as Striker or Sentinel in any activity. Additionally, Hallowfire Heart will only benefit you when you are holding onto your Super and not using it. This is useful in rare situations like during certain Nightfall modifiers, but otherwise it’s pretty underwhelming.
SANGUINE ALCHEMY
Sanguine Alchemy is a gorgeous Warlock chest with a pretty interesting PvP perk. Heightened Senses gives you a more detailed radar and marks priority targets near you while standing in your rift. While this perk does force you to stand relatively still, it gives you a great opportunity to know your enemy’s movements before they ever get the chance to move against you. If you love playing PvP on your Warlock, give this chest a shot.
THREE OF COINS
This old farming buff has returned from the Destiny graveyard to help you farm Exotics. Three of Coins is a four-hour buff that increases the odds of Exotic engrams dropping in the wild. Bungie clarified their effectiveness, and they don’t seem particularly worth the steep Legendary Shard cost at the moment.
