In Destiny 2: Season of Dawn, Polarized Fractaline is the most important currency. You need it to purchase Timelost Weapon Frames and upgrade each of the four Obelisks around the Destiny world. Unfortunately, it’s not too easy to come by.
Here are the best ways to farm Polarized Fractaline in Destiny 2: Season of Dawn.
Once you unlock the Obelisks on the EDZ, Nessus, Mars, and the Tangled Shore, you’ll gain access to eight weekly bounties — two from each Obelisk. These weekly bounties are often time consuming (with objectives like “kill 300 Scorn”), but offer a huge bump in Polarized Fractaline. Each bounty grants 100 Polarized Fractaline.
If you complete all the weekly bounties, you can earn 800 Polarized Fractaline a week, per character. With each Obelisk taking 200 Polarized Fractaline to level up, that’s four Obelisk levels a week on one character, and 12 if you do all three.
Now that you’ve rescued Saint-14 from the Infinite Forest, the Titan also offers daily bounties in the Tower Hangar — although you need to unlock his bounties first. Saint offers four bounties a day, and each bounty offers 50 Polarized Fractaline.
That’s 200 Polarized Fractaline a day on one character, and 600 if you do all three. If you complete all of Saint’s daily bounties a week on one character, you’ll earn 1400 Polarized Fractaline. If you do all three characters, you’ll earn 4,200 Polarized Fractaline from Saint bounties alone. That’s seven Obelisk levels with one character, and 21 Obelisk levels with all three.
If you complete every Polarized Fractaline bounty from both Saint-14 and the Obelisks, you can earn 2,200 Polarized Fractaline (11 Obelisk levels) a week. If you do everything on all three characters, you’ll earn 6,600 Polarized Fractaline (33 Obelisk levels) a week.
It’s worth noting that each Obelisk only has upgrades up to level 11. This means you could complete three of the four Obelisks with one week of grinding all three character bounties.
This by far the fastest and most efficient method to farm Polarized Fractaline. If you’re looking to go fast, complete every bounty on all of your characters.
There are tons of Season of Dawn Triumphs that grant Polarized Fractaline. Anytime you do anything remarkable in the season — be it completing a quest for Saint-14 or beating the Sundial activity without dying — you’ll earn some of the new currency.
Triumphs offer Minor Fractaline Harvests (10 Polarized Fractaline), Moderate Fractaline Harvest (50 Polarized Fractaline), or Major Fractaline Harvests (100 Polarized Fractaline. You can look in your Triumph menu, under the Season 9 seasonal section, to see how close you are to completing certain Triumphs.
Unfortunately, Triumphs aren’t repeatable, which makes them not a great farming method.
The Season Pass
Much like Triumphs, the Season Pass can drop one-time Polarized Fractaline rewards when you level up. There are three Polarized Fractaline drops on the season pass:
- Major Fractaline Harvest for paying players at level 2
- Moderate Fractaline Harvest for all players at level 7
- Major Fractaline Harvest for paying players at level 72
When you complete Saint-14’s quest to unlock the Tower’s Obelisk, you can purchase up to six Fractaline Skimmers a week (per account, not character) for 5,000 Glimmer.
This consumable increases the chance that you’ll get 100 Polarized Fracatline the next time you complete an activity. The effect lasts until you get a Polarized Fractaline drop from an activity. This a great way to get an extra 600 Polarized Fractaline during the week. But you do have to manually activate it inside your inventory if you want it to work.
Random activity completions
When you finish the Sundial, there’s a chance it can drop 100 Polarized Fractaline for you as a reward. While not exactly reliable, this is a way to keep your Fractaline grind going once you’re done with bounties. You can also unlock the ability to earn Polarized Fractaline from Strikes and the Crucible.
As you upgrade your Obelisks, you can buy perks to increase the likelihood of Polarized Fractaline drops after certain activities. For example, Nessus has a perk called the Polarized Fractaline Extractor, which increases the likelihood of earning Polarized Fractaline at the end of the Sundial or the Menagerie. Mars’ perk, Crucible Fractaline Extractor, makes it possible for Polarized Fractaline to drop in the Crucible.
You’ll get Polarized Fractaline for doing almost anything in Destiny 2: Season of Dawn. But if you’re looking to grind as much as you can before the end of the season, bounties are the way to go.
