Destiny 2 Xur location and items, Dec. 27-30

Head to the EDZ for some Exotics

Destiny 2 Xur
Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly Exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and he now appears all over the map. This week, you can find Xur on the EDZ, just north of the Winding Cove, standing on a bluff.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

  • Fighting Lion, tube grenade launcher: 29 Legendary Shards
  • Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves, Hunter gauntlets: 23 Legendary Shards
  • MK. 44 Stand Asides, Titan legs: 23 Legendary Shards
  • The Stat, Warlock helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Isochronal Engram: 97 Legendary Shards
  • Invitation quest: 9 Legendary Shards

Xur’s inventory caps out at 941 if you’re 960.

Fighting Lion

The Fighting Lion is an Exotic tube-fed grande launcher. Its primary perk, Delayed Gratification, causes its projectiles to bounce and only explode after you release the trigger. Its secondary perk is Thin the Herd, which increases damage done to the enemy shield. This grenade launcher also uses primary ammo.

The Fighting Lion is a gimmick weapon, but that doesn’t mean it’s useless. If you’re working on any quest that requires grenade launcher kills, the Fighting Lion is perfect — since it rarely runs out of ammo. It takes a lot of time to get used to the Fighting Lion, but it’s a powerful tool in rare situations.

Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves

These gauntlets are all sidearms all the time, with its Exotic perk Spring-loaded Mounting. Swapping to a sidearm increases its ready and reload speed. If you’re wounded, it also increases the sidearm’s damage.

Sidearms are very powerful at the moment, and these gauntlets can boost their power. If you don’t have these yet, pick up them up this season.

Xur’s roll this week is Solar, and comes with 48 total stats.

MK. 44 Stand Asides

Although they’re technically returning exotics from Destiny, the MK. 44 Stand Asides are new exotic Titan boots in Curse of Osiris. Their main perk in Destiny 2 is Seriously, Watch Out. If Titans have Seismic Strike, Hammer Strike or Shield Bash equipped and have max health, they get an Overshield if sprinting at max speed. Striking an enemy with those abilities quickly recharges your melee energy. This perk is great for aggressive Titan players, especially in PvP. If you have a Titan, pick these up regardless of which activities you play.

Xur’s roll this week is Void, and comes with 50 total stats.

The Stag

A returning exotic from Destiny (in name and look at least), The Stag’s exotic perk, Dearly Departed, gives you Rift energy when you’re close to death. When you die, you’ll also drop a healing rift under your feet. This exotic has some great stats and some interesting perks.

Perks that force you to die to be useful usually aren’t great. However, this helmet has potential to help you learn difficult encounters, or save an ally’s life in Iron Banner.

Xur’s roll this week is Void, and comes with 48 total stats.

Invitation

If you haven’t completed the Invitation quest yet, Xur is still offering it for nine Legendary Shards.
