Destiny 2: Truth, the Exotic rocket launcher guide (Season of Opulence)

Truth is an Exotic rocket launcher from Destiny, and it’s back in Destiny 2: Season of Opulence.

Truth is a PvP-focused rocket launcher. Its Exotic perk is Prototype Trueseeker, causing its rockets to aggressively hunt down enemies. It also has the Grenades and Horseshoes perk, where the rockets detonate when they’re in close proximity of the target.

If you want to get Truth, you have a lengthy quest line ahead of you. This guide will teach you how to start and finish the quest.

Step 1: Complete a Menagerie run

The Truth quest won’t give you a prompt in the Tower. You need to find an Awoken script to start the quest line. Go complete a Menagerie run and open the final chest to get that script.

Step 2: Go to Petra Venj in the Dreaming City

Take the Awoken Script to Petra in the Dreaming City. Talk to her and she’ll send you on another quest.

Step 3: Complete one of Petra’s Ascendant challenge bounties

Grab the Ascendant Realm bounty from Petra.

The week Truth became available, it’s the Ascendant Challenge in the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector in the Dreaming City. If you’re doing this quest another time, check out this handy calendar.

When you complete the Ascendant Challenge, you’ll get a broken map.

Players have datamined the rest of the Truth steps. We haven’t confirmed these ourselves quite yet but if you’re looking to jump ahead, we’ve included them below. There’s a possibility they may not be 100% accurate, so beware. We’ll update this guide as we learn more about how to get Truth.

Step 4: Piece the map back together

This is the longest step in this quest. You’ll need to find and decode four pieces of the map.

Note: It appears that Petra has a bug, and will sell you all the map fragments after you’ve gotten your first.

Piece 1

Go to Nessus and use a Tincture of Queensfoil to gain Ascendance. Make your way to The Cistern. Look for the Well of Flame tower, and the giant tree in front of it. Turn left and look for the pool of Radiolarian Fluid (the white stuff).

If you’re Ascendant, you’ll find several hidden platforms. Climb them and you’ll find a chest. Open it to receive a map piece.

To decode the map piece, you need to turn in a Corsair Badge down in the Dreaming City. Kill Skorn until it drops a Corsair Down item. Look at the item to get a hint where you need to go. Use this Corsair Down guide to decipher the hint and find the Corsair body. When you find her, a powerful Skorn enemy will appear. Kill it to complete the badge.

Take the completed badge to the Corsair in Divalian Mists. She’s in a cave behind the pulsing tower. You’ll complete your map bounty and earn a piece.

Piece 2

When you have the second piece from Petra, take out your Nightfall card and clear your perks. Increase your power handicap to 100, equip a rocket launcher, turn on heavyweight, and run a Nightfall with some friends. You’ll need to get 60 rocket kills and you need to complete three Nightfalls.

Piece 3

Go to Nessus and take a Tincture of Queensfoil. You need to kill 50 enemies with rocket launchers while Ascendant. Getting multiple kills with one rocket gives bonus progress. If you need additional ammo, try and rally at a public event flag.

Piece 4

You need to kill 100 Hive in the Tangled Shore. We recommend you run the Wolfship Turbine Lost Sector in Sorik’s Cut. Kill them with whatever weapons you want.

Step 6: Complete The Warden of Nothing strike

Open the Tangled Shore map and launch the Warden of Nothing strike. You’ll need to find a Ascendant chest at the end of the Strike. To get to that chest, you need to make four Ascendant platforms appear. Pop a Tincture of Queensfoil and move into the Strike.

Look out for rotating orbs hidden in the strike, or check the images below for the location of four. You need to hit these buttons to make the Ascendant platforms appear.

Once you’ve activated four buttons, push through the rest of the strike and defeat the final boss. When the boss goes down, an Ascendant platform will appear in front of you — toward where the boss first spawned. Follow the path until you reach the Dreaming City chest at the end. Open it to get Truth, the Exotic rocket launcher.

You’ll have 90 seconds to grab Truth before the game boots your Fireteam to orbit.

Step 7: Take the Truth rocket launcher to Benedict 99-40

Calus has something to say to you. Go visit Werner or Benedict 99-40 to hear the emperor’s message.
