Head to Nessus for some Exotics

Destiny 2 Xur
Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly Exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and he now appears all over the map. This week, Xur is in a new spot. You can find Xur hanging out on Calus’ barge in the Watcher’s Grave.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

  • Sweet Business, Kinetic auto rifle: 29 Legendary Shards
  • The Sixth Coyote, Hunter chest: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Ashen Wake, Titan gauntlets: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Karnstein Armlets, Warlock gauntlets: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Isochronal Engram: 97 Legendary Shards
  • Invitation quest: 9 Legendary Shards

Xur’s inventory likely caps out at 731 if you’re 750. He also offers specific rolls on each armor piece each week, giving out different perks for the same pieces.

Sweet Business

Sweet Business is a beautiful exotic minigun that you can use in your Kinetic slot. Its exotic perk, Payday, causes the gun to hold 99 bullets and features great accuracy when fired from the hip.

But what makes this gun really special is the Business Time perk, which increases the weapon’s range and rate of fire when holding down the trigger. As a bonus, any Kinetic ammo you walk over will be instantly loaded into the clip if Business Time is active.

This once great Exotic has fallen on hard times in the past year or so, but, if you’re a Titan able to pair it with Actium War Rig, you can fire for an extremely long time without having to reload. Pick up this gun for the next time auto rifles get buffed.

The Sixth Coyote

The Sixth Coyote is an Exotic chest piece from from Forsaken. Its Exotic perk is Double Dodge, which is exactly what it sounds like; Hunter players can hold two stacks of their class ability: dodge.

This could be a great chest piece if you’re under leveled. If you just need to go invisible and resurrect your allies more often, this is a great piece of gear to pair with Nightstalker.

This week’s roll:

Slot 1: Unflinching power aim, unflinching light arms, unflinching large arms

Slot 2: Auto rifle reserves, submachine gun reserves

Ashen Wake

Ashen Wake is one of the new exotics in Destiny 2: Warmind. Its main exotic perk is Bring the Heat, which causes the Fusion Grenades used by solar Titans to explode immediately on impact and travel faster in mid-air. This is a cool exotic on paper, but it doesn’t actually add any damage to your grenades.

Ashen Wake is a hard sell for your single exotic spot when other grenade-related exotics like the Armamentarium exist. However, the effect is still fun to use, especially if you’re accustomed to more of the instant gratification that comes with the Striker’s Pulse Grenades. Pick these up if you’re a collector, or hammer Titan enthusiast.

This week’s roll:

Slot 1: Bow reloader, sniper rifle reloader, Kinetic weapon reloader

Slot 2: Linear fusion rifle scavenger, sniper rifle scavenger

Karnstein Armlets

The Karnstein Armlets are fun, powerful Warlock Exotics. The Exotic perk, Vampire’s Caress, will grant a large amount of health on a melee kill and also apply a heal over time to the player. Karnstein Armlets are must-have gauntlets for any Warlock player. They are very powerful in PvE and PvP. Do not let these pass you by if you don’t have them yet.

This week’s roll:

Slot 1: Hand cannon loader, Linear Fusion rifle loader, Momentum Transfer

Slot 2: Linear fusion rifle scavenger, rocket launcher scavenger

Invitation

If you haven’t completed the Invitation quest yet, Xur is still offering it for nine Legendary Shards.
