Head to Titan for some Exotics

Destiny 2 Xur

If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly Exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and he now appears all over the map. This week, you can find Xur on Titan, taking shelter in a building on the eastern part of The Rig.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

  • Hard Light, auto rifle: 29 Legendary Shards
  • Gemini Jester, Hunter boots: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Helm of Saint-14, Titan helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Wings of Sacred Dawn, Warlock chest: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Isochronal Engram: 97 Legendary Shards
  • Invitation quest: 9 Legendary Shards

Xur’s inventory caps out at 731 if you’re 750. He also offers specific rolls on each armor piece each week, giving out different perks for the same pieces.

Hard Light

Hard Light is one of those rare cases when the weapon quality depends entirely on the platform on which you play Destiny 2. The recoil of this gun makes it extremely difficult to use for console players, which essentially nullifies one of its major perks, Volatile Light, which causes the projectiles fired to have no damage fall off at range as well as pierce targets and ricochet off walls. The recoil is barely stable enough to hit an enemy within shotgun range, let alone far away.

If you’re playing on PC and have the stability of a mouse, however, Hard Light actually has a lot of potential. Since it can rotate elements on the fly, it’s also very useful for the Nightfall during Prism weeks. If you’re on console, you can feel fine skipping the weapon this week, but PC players shouldn’t ignore a chance to get this very enjoyable gun.

Gemini Jester

Gemini Jester is one of the new exotics added in Curse of Osiris. Its main exotic perk is Misdirection. If you dodge near an enemy, you’ll disorient them, removing their radar if they’re a human player. This is a decent PvP exotic if you’re sick of running the classics. Just beware that you need to be close to be effective.

This week’s roll:

Slot 1: Scout rifle dexterity, enhanced sniper rifle loader, machine gun dexterity

Slot 2: Hand cannon scavenger, scout rifle scavenger

Helm of Saint-14

Another returning Destiny exotic, the Helm of Saint-14 is rarely useful in Destiny 2. Its exotic perk, Starless Night, causes your Ward of Dawn to blind enemies who walk inside it. Guarding with Sentinel Shield will provide the same result.

Unfortunately, there are few times where you want to drop Ward of Dawn rather than use your full Sentinel Shield. When using the block, this perk doesn’t activate easily enough to be useful. If you like the way it looks, pick it up for some tower fashion. But if you want a functional Titan helmet, look elsewhere.

This week’s roll:

Slot 1: Light Reactor, Ashes to Assets, Heavy Lifting

Slot 2: Sniper rifle reserves, machine gun reserves

Wings of Sacred Dawn

Wings of Sacred Dawn is one of the weirdest looking exotics in all of Destiny 2. Its exotic perk, Tome of Sacred Dawn, allows you to hover while aiming in the air, keeping you suspended for a short period of time. The more precision hits you get like this, the longer you stay up.

Wings of Sacred Dawn is very fun to use but requires you to equip Dawnblade. Thankfully, Dawnblade has recently been buffed, making it far more viable than it used to be. If you like floating in the air and flinging fire, check this exotic out.

This week’s roll:

Slot 1: Unflinching grenade launcher aim, unflinching sidearm aim, enhanced submachine gun aim

Slot 2: Auto rifle reserves, sidearm reserves

Invitation

If you haven’t completed the Invitation quest yet, Xur is still offering it for nine Legendary Shards.
