Head to Nessus for some Exotics

Destiny 2 Xur
Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

If you played Destiny, you may be familiar with Xur, the weekly Exotic item merchant. In Destiny 2, he’s back, and he now appears all over the map. This week, you can find Xur on Nessus, standing on Calus’s Barge.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

  • The Colony, grenade launcher: 29 Legendary Shards
  • Shinobu’s Vow, Hunter gauntlets: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Mask of the Quiet One, Titan helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Lunafaction Boots, Warlock legs: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Isochronal Engram: 97 Legendary Shards
  • Invitation quest: 9 Legendary Shards

Xur’s inventory caps out at 941 if you’re 960.

The Colony

The Colony is a new grenade launcher introduced in the Curse of Osiris expansion. Its exotic perk, Insectoid Robot Grenades, causes missed shots to turn into little robots that track down nearby enemies. Its secondary perk, Serve the Colony, automatically reloads the clip if the weapon is stowed for a short period of time.

This gun is extremely fun to use and packs a punch in PvP. Like Sweet Business, Coldheart and a few other weapons in Destiny 2, The Colony really feels like it earns its exotic title. It’s unique and a blast to carry around with you on a regular basis. No matter what you enjoy doing in Destiny 2, Legendary Shards spent on The Colony will be Shards well spent.

Shinobu’s Vow

Shinobu’s Vow are new gauntlets added in Curse of Osiris. Their exotic perk, New Tricks, improves your Skip Grenade and grants you an extra Skip Grenade charge. The worth of this exotic comes down to personal preference. Anything that gives you an extra grenade charge is great. If you like playing Arcstrider and prefer using a grenade-boosting exotic rather than the Raiden Flux chest piece, pick up these gauntlets. If that doesn’t apply to you, skip it.

Xur’s roll this week is Arc, and comes with 48 total stats.

Mask of the Quiet One

Mask of the Quiet One is a great Exotic in both PvP and PvE. Its exotic perk, Dreaded Visage, grants energy for your grenade, melee and class ability each time you take damage. Even better, kills with void abilities instantly trigger your health regeneration. While this helmet is best used with Sentinel, you’ll get the extra energy on damage regardless of your subclass. If you’re going to be taking a lot of damage (which you will be in most activities), this is a great exotic.

Xur’s roll this week is Void, and comes with 48 total stats.

Lunafaction Boots

Lunafaction Boots are very powerful Warlock Exotic boots, and have been since the original Destiny 2. Their Exotic perk is Alchemical Etchings. This perk grants a reload speed increase while standing in a Lunafaction-empowered Rift. This Exotic got hit hard in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, but it’s still very powerful and worth using. You need these.

Xur’s roll this week is Solar, and comes with 48 total stats.

Invitation

If you haven’t completed the Invitation quest yet, Xur is still offering it for nine Legendary Shards.
