Destiny 2 Xur location and items, May 21-25

Head to the Tower for some Exotics

Destiny 2 Xur Image: Bungie
Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

The weekly Exotic item merchant, Xur, hangs out in random locations around the world of Destiny. In Destiny 2, he can appear all over the map, as well as inside the Tower. This week, you can find Xur in the Tower, looking over the Hangar on a staircase.

Xur’s inventory this week consists of the following:

  • Monte Carlo, Kinetic auto rifle: 29 Legendary Shards
  • Gemini Jester, Hunter legs: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Dunemarchers, Titan legs: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Astrocyte Verse, Warlock helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Exotic Engram: 97 Legendary Shards (you can now purchase a second with an Exotic Cipher)
  • Exotic Cipher quest: free

Xur’s items drop at a similar power level as your character.

Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo is an older Exotic auto rifle from the original Destiny, brought back to life in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. Its primary Exotic perk is Monte Carlo Method, which reduces the cooldown of your melee ability whenever you deal damage with Monte Carlo, and offers a chance for a melee ability reset on a Monte Carlo kill. Monte Carlo’s secondary perk is the Markov Chain, which increases the gun’s damage after primary fire or melee kills. Markov Chain also grants ammo on a melee kill.

Monte Carlo was a beloved auto rifle in the original Destiny, and it’s even better in Destiny 2. The gun offers some serious utility for melee-focused builds, and it feels great to shoot. Like most Exotic primaries, this isn’t the kind of weapon you want to take with you into a new raid. But for trolling around the universe, breaking space robots, and punching space rhinos, it’s the perfect companion.

Gemini Jester

Gemini Jester is one of the Exotics added in Curse of Osiris. Its main exotic perk is Misdirection. If you dodge near an enemy, you’ll disorient them, removing their radar if they’re a human player. This is a decent PvP exotic if you’re sick of running the classics. Just beware that you need to be close to be effective.

Xur’s roll this week comes with 61 total stats.

Dunemarchers

Dunemarchers are excellent Titan boots that everyone should pick up. Their exotic perk, Linear Actuators, increases your sprint speed and causes your next melee after sprinting to chain damage to nearby foes. The Linear Actuator perk is great because it offers two major bonuses, both of which are super effective. If you don’t have these boots for your Titan, be sure to grab them.

Xur’s roll this week comes with 61 total stats.

Astrocyte Verse

Astrocyte Verse is a Warlock helmet from Season of Opulence. Its Exotic perk is Move to Survive, which increases Blink frequency, distance, and weapon ready speed after blinking back into existence. Your radar also stays active while you Blink. This Exotic is completely situational — depending on whether you like the Warlock’s Blink jump ability. Blink can be very powerful in PvP, making this helmet a must-have for Crucible Warlocks.

Xur’s roll this week comes with 66 total stats.

Exotic Cipher quest

Starting in Beyond Light, Xur has a new quest for an Exotic Cipher. The Exotic Cipher lets you buy old Exotics from the Monuments to Lost Light kiosk in the tower. You’ll need these items and some other currencies to pick up Exotics like Heir Apparent and Truth.

This week, Xur wants you to complete 21 Strikes or win Crucible or Gambit matches. By finishing the quest, you’ll earn an Exotic Cipher to use however you want.
