Head to the Tower for some Exotics

Destiny 2 Xur Image: Bungie

The weekly Exotic item merchant, Xur, hangs out in random locations around the world of Destiny. In Destiny 2, he can appear all over the map, as well as inside the Tower. This week, you can find Xur in the Tower, in the Hangar, standing on the back steps.

Xur’s Exotic inventory this week consists of the following:

  • Tractor Cannon, Void shotgun: 29 Legendary Shards
  • Knucklehead Radar, Hunter helmet: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Doom Fang Pauldron, Titan arms: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Promethium Spur, Warlock legs: 23 Legendary Shards
  • Exotic Engram: 97 Legendary Shards (you can now purchase a second with an Exotic Cipher)
  • Exotic Cipher quest: free

As of Season of the Lost, Xur also sells a collection of old armor and weapons — similar to Banshee-44 and Ada-1. Usually, these items are difficult to find and from seasons long past. Each item (whether armor or weapon) only costs 1,000 Glimmer and 50 Legendary Shards.

Xur’s Legendary inventory this week consists of the following:

  • True Prophecy, Kinetic hand cannon
  • Escape Velocity, Kinetic submachine gun
  • The Last Dance, Arc sidearm
  • Main Ingredient, Arc fusion rifle
  • Hollow Words, Arc fusion rifle
  • Seventh Seraph Saw, Arc machine gun
  • Bite of the Fox, Kinetic sniper rifle
  • Forged Machinist armor set

Xur’s Exotic items drop at a similar power level as your character. Legendary items drop at 1100.

Tractor Cannon

Tractor Cannon is an Exotic shotgun. Its exotic perk, Repulsor Force, causes the weapon to fire powerful pulses that push enemies away from the user, suppress their abilities, and make them vulnerable to incoming damage. Its secondary perk, The Scientific Method, makes damaging opponents temporarily increase the weapon’s stats.

Tractor Cannon is a very powerful weapon in both PvP and PvE. It can instantly kill Guardians out of their Super, or help your Fireteam melt a boss. It’s also great for soloing difficult content, if you’re into that. If you don’t have this one yet, this is the perfect opportunity to pick it up.

Knucklehead Radar

Knucklehead Radar is a powerful PvP Hunter helmet. Its Exotic perk, Upgraded Sensor Pack, will constantly provide you with radar, even while aiming down sights. This is a great helmet in PvP or Trials, where your radar is extremely important. However, MIDA Multi-Tool and Ace of Spades have a similar perk, which could make the helmet redundant depending on the loadout you’re using. For that reason, it’s not as powerful as something like Foetracer. If you don’t have this helmet yet, pick it up and keep it with you for PvP emergencies.

Xur’s roll this week has 61 total stat points.

Doom Fang Pauldron

Doom Fang Pauldron is pretty cool if you’re into the Sentinel Titan. Its Exotic perk, Horns of Doom, causes shield bash kills to quickly recharge your shield throw while you’re using your Super. Additionally, melee ability kills give you extra Super energy, and shield throw kills extend the duration of your Super. If you’re a regular Sentinel user, this is a must-have.

Xur’s roll this week has 63 total stat points.

Promethium Spur

Promethium Spur is a relatively new Warlock Exotic compared to this group of OG Destiny 2 Exotics. Its unique perk, Embers of Light, causes Daybreak kills to spawn healing and empowering Rifts on the ground. This Exotic has a really interesting perk, but it’s not particularly useful in most cases. Maybe you’ll save the life of a teammate this way, but it’s a situational Warlock Exotic at best.

Exotic Cipher quest

Starting in Beyond Light, Xur has a new quest for an Exotic Cipher. The Exotic Cipher lets you buy old Exotics from the Monuments to Lost Light kiosk in the Tower. You’ll need these items and some other currencies to pick up Exotics like Heir Apparent and Truth.

This week, Xur wants you to complete 21 Strikes or win Crucible or Gambit matches. By finishing the quest, you’ll earn an Exotic Cipher to use however you want.
