Ager’s Scepter Exotic Catalyst — Destiny 2 guide

How to augment Ager’s Scepter, one of Destiny 2’s coolest Exotics

Ager’s Scepter is the latest Destiny 2 hotness. It’s an Exotic Trace rifle that deals Stasis damage and can freeze all nearby enemies after a kill. It’s a powerful and fun Exotic in PvE, capable of mowing down enemies and triggering Fragment perks when paired with a Stasis subclass. But as of Sept. 21, Ager’s Scepter has a Catalyst as well.

Here’s how to find the Ager’s Scepter Catalyst, how to unlock it, and what it does.

Find the Ager’s Scepter Catalyst

During Season of the Lost, Ager’s Scepter’s catalyst drops from the Wayfinder’s Trove at the end of the Astral Alignment activity. That’s the chest that spawns at the end of the activity that you need to spend 100 Parallax Trajectory to unlock. We were lucky enough to get our Catalyst on the first go, but others have reported multiple runs without a drop. Just keep running Astral Alignment and opening the Wayfinder’s Trove until it drops for you.

Unlock the Ager’s Scepter Catalyst

So you have the Catalyst but you’re not sure how to unlock it. Well, you need to get about 1,000 kills with it. However, precision kills count as more than one kill. Destroying those Ager’s Spector-only rocks in the Shattered Realm is also supposed to give you bonus progress, but it doesn’t appear to be working correctly at the time of this writing.

Just run around the system getting precision kills with Ager’s Scepter. And if you’d like something faster, you can always run the Shuro Chi checkpoint in Last Wish for fast and easy kills.

What does the Ager’s Scepter Catalyst do?

The Ager’s Scepter Catalyst adds a new perk called Will Given Form. When your Super is fully charged, you can hold the reload button to activate Will Given Form, which overflows the Ager’s Scepter magazine, causes the beam to deal increased damage, and increases the weapon’s ability to slow and freeze targets. The perk constantly drains Super while it’s active, so the empowerment will end on a reload, if the user’s Super runs out, or if the user stows the weapon.

This perk is extremely powerful, and turns an already strong weapon into a must-have Exotic.
