The Title — the new weapon for the Guardian Games 2022 event inside Destiny 2: Season of the Risen — is a new Void Submachine gun that has some unique perk options. More importantly, it has an origin perk, Classy Contender, that will get you more class ability energy on kills.
In this Destiny 2 guide, we’ll go over how to get The Title and what perks to consider in both PvE and PvP.
Note: After May 24, The Title will be unavailable until Guardian Games 2023.
How to get The Title
You can get The Title as a reward for turning in medals in the 2022 Guardian Games.
The drop rate is quite high, so complete activities and Contender Cards to get medals to turn in for your favorite class (Warlock obviously [Ed. note: Titans are clearly the better choice here, so we suggest you ignore the Warlock propaganda in this guide]). The Title seems to drop mostly from gold and platinum medals, but it can also drop from silver.
While you can get plenty of rolls of The Title by playing Guardian Games naturally, there is a quick farming method if you want to get a bunch very quickly. Youtuber Cheese Forever found a way to get bronze and silver medals using the second mission in The Legendary Witch Queen campaign. You’ll need at least two people if you want to use this method.
Launch the mission and play until just before you have the interaction with Fynch, the Hive Ghost. Once there, have your friend join in so that you can swap to your second character, and grab the checkpoint. Swap back to your main character and complete the mission to get the silver and bronze medals. Load back into your secondary character and repeat.
You’ll need to go back to the Tower and turn in medals every five runs because you can only hold up to five silver and five bronze medals at a time.

PVE PERKS AND ROLLS TO CONSIDER
The Title SMG shines right now because of the Season of the Risen’s focus on Void, with Artifact mods like Volatile Flow greatly increasing the weapon’s potential. However, this weapon might maintain some of its power in future seasons due to its unique Origin Trait, granting Class Ability energy on a kill.
Here’s our baseline recommendation for a PvE The Title:
- Barrel: Arrowhead Brake
- Magazine: Light Mag
- Perk 1: Stats for All
- Perk 2: One for All
The perk combinations below require some building when it comes to armor mods and subclass considerations:
- Fluted Barrel, Appended Mag, Grave Robber, Swashbuckler
- Smallbore, Flared Magwell, Threat Detector, Surrounded
PVP PERKS AND ROLLS TO CONSIDER
The Title has good rolls for PVP, but it does lack the range of other SMG options — the most important stat for submachine guns in PvP. But The Title can definitely shine in close quarters.
Here’s our baseline recommendation for a PvP Title:
- Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling
- Magazine: Ricochet Rounds
- Perk 1: Perpetual Motion
- Perk 2: Moving Target
You want as much range as you can get without losing too much stability.
A few other perks and perk combinations to consider:
- Smallbore, Ricochet Rounds, Perpetual Motion, Swashbuckler
- Extended Barrel, Highcaliber Rounds, Dynamic Sway Reduction, Moving Target
