How to complete the Shadow’s Return Triumph in Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted

Destiny 2’s Season of the Haunted marks the return of the Leviathan, a monstrous ship owned by Emperor Calus. But the Leviathan is changed from how it once appeared in Destiny 2. It’s been corrupted, and it’s now a public space where there are three zones for you to explore: the Castellum, the Royal Pools, and the Pleasure Gardens.

While the Castellum houses the primary public event for this season, the other two zones offer different events for you to take on. These are linked to Triumphs that you must complete if you want to unlock this season’s title, Reaper.

In this Destiny 2 guide, we’ll go over where you can find each event that can take place on the Haunted Leviathan and how to complete them. These events are needed to complete the Fever Dream, A Guardian is a Guardian, Even in a Nightmare, Get to Taking Out Their Commanders, One by One, and Controlled Burn Triumphs.

Fever Dream

“Defeat each of the powerful Nightmares within the Haunted Alcoves on the Derelict Leviathan and claim the associated Triumphs.”

These events take place in small areas usually just off the primary locations of the Royal Pools and Pleasure Gardens. If you are in the area when the event begins, you’ll see a message on your screen indicating that that event is starting.

Note: You won’t get this message if you enter the zone and the event is already taking place, so check out the areas of the events to see if there are enemies on your radar in the specific locations. If your radar lights up, there’s a good chance that the event is active.

Sporest of Beasts - On the Derelict Leviathan, clear the Haunted Alcove guarded by resting hounds. Defeat the Nightmare of Carun, Beastmaster.

This event is found in the Pleasure Gardens, specifically in the small room under the large statue of Calus (this is directly across from the entrance from the Castellum). This room is entered from the top, as shown in the image above. The message you’ll see when this event starts is “A distant snore of sleeping War Beasts …”

In this event, you’ll fight a few waves of War Beasts, followed by a boss Psion.

Nightmare Breached - On the Derelict Leviathan, clear the Haunted Alcove opposite Calus. Defeat the Nightmares of Kra’lok, the Sword, and Ha’lok, the Shield.

This event is found in the Pleasure Gardens, specifically in the small room above the entrance from the Castellum. The image above shows the entrance to the room. You’ll want to jump up onto the rocks until you reach that little ledge.

The message you’ll see when this event starts is “A sword and shield clash together…” In this event, you’ll fight multiple waves of normal and boss enemies, including the two that you must kill for the Triumph.

Drainage - On the Derelict Leviathan, clear the Haunted Alcove connected to an old, unused passage. Defeat the Nightmare of Qalec, the Sniper.

This event is found in the Royal Pools, specifically in the tunnels that begin in the back right corner of the area (when entering from the Castellum). The message you’ll see when this event starts is “A red laser dot briefly passes over your Ghost …” In this event, you’ll fight multiple boss enemies, including Qalec, the Sniper.

Ritual Under Shadow - On the Derelict Leviathan, clear the Haunted Alcove passageway containing a Nightmare ritual. Defeat the Nightmare of Sy’ad, the Unending.

This event is found in the Royal Pools, specifically in the tunnels that begin on the back center wall (when entering from the Castellum, look for the two braziers at the back of the room and you’ll find an open door). The message you’ll see when this event starts is “Dark Ether thickens in the air …” In this event, you’ll fight multiple waves of normal and boss enemies.

When you reach the back of the tunnels, there will be three lights you’ll need to activate and perform a summoning ritual. This will summon the boss that you must kill for the Triumph.

A Guardian is a Guardian, Even in a Nightmare

“Assist coalition troops by disrupting Calus’s Loyalist forces aboard the Derelict Leviathan and claim the associated Triumphs.”

These events spawn at random times. You can wait in the area of the event you need until your screen darkens, notifying you that an event is starting.

At the Behest of the Empress - On the Derelict Leviathan, defeat a troublesome Loyalist commander. Defeat Au’gor, Devoted of Calus, and Jai’ek, Supplicant of Calus.

This event is found in the Royal Pools.

While active, there will be a beacon with the Caiatl symbol on it, as shown in the picture above. Active this beacon and it will spawn two friendly Cabals that you can fight alongside. Fight through the waves of enemies and kill the two bosses at the end to get this Triumph.

Exile Ended - On the Derelict Leviathan, defeat a Loyalist commander and release its prisoner.

This event is found in the Pleasure Gardens.

While active, a Shield Warden mini-boss will be standing next to a small orange Cabal bubble. Kill the Shield Warden and release the prisoner for the Triumph.

Battle Lines - On the Derelict Leviathan, defeat a Loyalist force defending their territory, and bring down their commander. Defeat a Loyalist Sentinel Commander.

This event is found in the Royal Pools and the Pleasure Gardens. You only have to complete one for the Triumph.

There will be a message that appears on your screen when the event starts saying “Loyalist Sentinels have fortified a position.” You’ll see a large orange Cabal shield spawn somewhere in the arena. Kill the enemies inside as well as the shield’s generator. There will be three total shields that you must fight through. Once you kill the third shield a commander will spawn somewhere in the arena. Kill that commander to earn the triumph.

Shared Fears - On the Derelict Leviathan, defeat each of the Nightmares linked by an old bond of war. Defeat Cek’ik, Seeker of the Deep.

This event is found in the Royal Pools and the Pleasure Gardens. There will be a message that appears on your screen when the event starts saying “Three powerful Nightmares haunt the Leviathan.” Three bosses will spawn around the arena, named The Sunken, The Drowned, and The Forgotten. Kill those three bosses to spawn in one final boss: Cek’ik, Seeker of the Deep. Kill them to earn the Triumph.

Get to Taking Out Their Commanders, One by One

On the Derelict Leviathan, defeat each of the roaming Nightmare targets within the Royal Pools. These enemies spawn as High-Value Targets, so while you are in the Royal Pools area, keep an eye out for text saying that one has spawned. This can take some time, so be patient and they’ll eventually all appear.

Controlled Burn

On the Derelict Leviathan, defeat each of the roaming Nightmare targets within the Pleasure Gardens. These enemies spawn as High-Value Targets, so while you are in the Pleasure Gardens area, keep an eye out for text saying that one has spawned. This can take some time, so be patient and they will eventually spawn.
