Destiny 2: The Witch Queen’s Vow of the Disciple raid saw its second challenge launch the the week of March 29. These challenges will rotate through the four raid encounters on a week-by-week basis.
In this Destiny 2 guide, we’ll go over the Base Information challenge for the Caretaker encounter, as well as some strategies for completing it.
The challenge objective
To complete the Base Information challenge, you must complete the encounter while never holding more than one stack of knowledge at a time. Knowledge is the buff that you receive when running in the room that is at the back of the arena.
If you need a refresher on the encounter or raid itself, you can follow our guide linked here.
The strategy for this encounter is pretty straightforward, but the typical roles will change slightly. You’ll want to have three runners, two stunners, and one person on add clear.
Runners: The overall strategy for the runners is to run into the room, grab one symbol, exit the room, and deposit it into the Obelisk. You can send all three runners in at the same time, but our group sent two of the runners in first while the third runner helped with add clear until the first group of runners was ready to exit. They then swapped positions back and forth until they deposited all nine buffs — one at a time.
The trick for runners is to not exit the room with a buff at the exact same time as another runner with a buff, because this can cause the encounter to bug out. You will know the order in which to deposit your buffs because a message will appear in the lower left corner of your screen calling out a specific player’s name. This should match the order in which you exit the room, but keep an eye on it just in case. As long as your stunner team is on top of things, you should have plenty of time to complete this cycle, even if you have to take breaks to let your Pervading Darkness stacks decrease.
Stunners: Your job is almost exactly the same as normal, since you just need to watch out for adds and make sure you are stunning the boss consistently to give your runners time to do their job.
Add clear: The typical strategy for this encounter has two team members on add clear. Because one of those moved over to the runner job, your role will change slightly. We found it best to have the add clear team member rotate to whichever side of the arena the boss is walking up. This helps the stunners out by clearing the adds that will affect them the most. Keep an eye out for the adds that spawn on the other side of the arena, but stick with the stunners and clear out the adds that are killing them the most. If all three of your runners are going in together, you might have to be ready to shoot the Crux to open the door for them.
Like the first challenge, this Caretaker challenge is relatively easy depending on the skill level of your group.
