Percy Jackson fans are getting sweet, sweet vindication after two not-so-great live action movies. Author Rick Riordan (affectionately referred to as “Uncle Rick” by his fans) previously announced that his middle-grade series would be getting a Disney Plus series — with the writer being involved in every aspect of the show.
While full production details are still up in the air, Riordan posted a very brief teaser on TikTok, which he says will premiere at the Disney shareholder meeting on Dec. 10.
@rickriordan A super short teaser that will appear today at the Disney shareholders meeting. Still a long way to go but I am so excited! #percyjackson #disneyplus

The idea of a Disney-helmed Percy Jackson series has been circulating since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, with Riordan even speaking of hypothetical projects on his blog. When Disney Plus launched, fans took to Twitter with the hashtag #DisneyPlusAdaptPercyJackson and a petition showing fan interest. The middle-grade series debuted in 2005 and followed the titular demigod hero in a world where Greek gods, heroes, and monsters were real. Riordan has previously spoken about his dislike of the movie versions, particularly how they aged up the characters.
There is currently no release date or casting information for the Percy Jackson series.
