The Scarlet Witch’s happy home life crumbles around her in the final trailer for WandaVision, the first Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series to hit Disney Plus. Disney showed off the new footage on Thursday at its 2020 Investors Day event.
WandaVision picks up with Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, living happily ever after with her android beau, Vision. Which is interesting, given that Vision didn’t even live long enough to get snapped during the events of Avengers: Infinity War — but the series is likely based on a combination of the two most infamous Scarlet Witch and Vision comics ever written. House of M expanded Wanda’s reality warping powers to the entire world, and the series Vision followed its eponymous character as he tried to build a normal suburban life for himself and the nuclear family he’d created.
The series will also star an expanded cast from three very different Marvel Cinematic Universe movies: Teyonah Parris as a grown up Monica Rambeau, the little girl from Captain Marvel; Kat Denning as Darcy Lewis from the first two Thor movies; and Randall Park as FBI agent Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and the Wasp.
WandaVision was not supposed to be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe show to hit Disney Plus, but when Hollywood productions around the world shut down this spring, it turned out to be the one that was closest to finishing production. The series premieres exclusively on Disney Plus, on Jan. 15, 2021.
