The Division 2 guide: How to get the Merciless Exotic rifle

Merciless is a powerful Exotic rifle in The Division 2. It fires two bullets with each trigger pull, and it’s an essential weapon in any explosive-focused build. If you’re looking for a weapon to go with all the other explosions you like to make in The Division 2, you need to pick up this rifle.

Merciless perk details

Merciless is powerful, but it takes a bit of work to use correctly. If you’re willing to put in the time, Merciless has some of the highest damage potential in The Division 2. Even when holstered, Merciless helps explosive builds deal consistent damage.

• Binary Trigger: Merciless fires twice — one bullet when you pull the trigger, and another when you release the trigger.
• Guerrilla Warfare: Merciless’ shots perform differently. The first shot with each trigger pull embeds a primer in the target. The Second shot detonates any primers in the enemy. Only five primers can be out at once, and only on a single target. Each primer adds 75% additional damage.
• Brutality: While you have Merciless holstered, all other weapons have a 5% chance to deal 20% additional explosive damage with each shot.

How to get Merciless

The Merciless comes from missions that end in named Hyena bosses. Unfortunately, the drop chance is low, and you’ll have to get lucky to pick one up for yourself.

To increase your chances of picking one up, play in a group and turn up the difficulty. If you’re playing with friends, you can trade the weapon to someone else in the party and an player gets two. Friends also help the missions go faster.

You can also play on either Hard or Challenging difficulty to increase your drop chance. Start on Hard, and see how easily you complete it before bumping up the difficulty.

• Bank Headquarters
• Grand Washington Hotel
• District Union Arena Stronghold

Jefferson Trade Center is the fastest, easiest mission. Run it over and over again until you get the Merciless to drop.
