Dying Light 2 guide: How to defeat Hermann

In this Dying Light 2 Hermann fight guide, we’ll walk you through the fight against Sophie’s bodyguard, Hermann, during “The Raid” Story Quest.

A ways into “The Raid” Story Quest, after you’ve liberated Jack and Joe’s Bandit Camp, you’ll head to the hideout in the Tango Hotel. Once you complete the “Defeat the Bazaar folk and go after Barney” objective, you’ll face off against Sophie’s buddy Hermann.

The fight begins when you fall through the ceiling and dust yourself off. Hermann is wielding a heavy, two-handed mace. It does a lot of damage and will knock you back if it connects. You also can’t block it.

When you’re in close, Hermann has a shove and kick attack that both shove you back into mace range.

Your best bet is to wait for him to approach you and start a swing. While he’s swinging, Dodge left or right (by holding left or right on the left thumbstick and hitting the jump — R1/RVB — button on a controller).

It’ll take him a second to recover, so land a hit or two on his back before he turns around. If you stay there too long, he’ll hit you with a shove or a kick, so keep moving. Keep whittling down his health until he falls.

Be sure to search his body before you climb out and “find a way back to the garden.”
