Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can now plant and harvest pumpkins, thanks to a free October update.
You’ll be able to buy Pumpkin Starts from Nook’s Cranny for 280 Bells each during October. Leif sells them for cheaper at 140 Bells each year-round.
Plant these in an open area on your island to grow pumpkins, which are used in seasonal Halloween-themed DIY recipes. Note that you will not need to water the pumpkins to keep them growing, but if you do water them, they’ll produce more. It takes three days to grow a pumpkin from a Pumpkin Start.
Once a visible Pumpkin grows to a large size, you can pick it to collect a Pumpkin. The Start will continue to produce Pumpkins after you pick the initial one. It’s also possible for multiple Pumpkins to grow from a single Start over time, if you water the plant.
The Pumpkins come in green, white, yellow, and orange, though you won’t know what color your Pumpkin Starts will grow into until they sprout. You’ll need Orange Pumpkins to craft the Spooky set DIY items, and the other colors to customize them.
