Tanoa terrain coming to Arma 3 in 2016, here's the first trailer

Charlie Hall is Polygon’s tabletop editor. In 10-plus years as a journalist & photographer, he has covered simulation, strategy, and spacefaring games, as well as public policy.

While the new Arma 3 map, a fictitious South Pacific island called Tanoa, was leaked on Bohemia Interactive's own forums just last week tonight we saw the first full trailer. At the PC Gaming Show representatives were on hand to formally introduce the 100 square kilometer battlespace. On display was dormant volcano, deep quarries and dense tropical jungles filled with the wreckage of World War II fighters.

Bohemia representatives called the map "a green hell."

"It's a bit more raw and gritty than your average holiday resort."

Tanoa will be released in 2016 as part of a larger expansion.
