Star Wars Battlefront, Fallout 4 clean up in Best of E3 nominations (Correction)

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

The nominees are in for the best games shown at E3 2015, with Electronic Arts and Sony (or its first-party studios) taking 11 nominations each and Star Wars Battlefront picking up five by itself.

Winners in each category will be announced July 7. Only games that were playable at the show were eligible for consideration, which is why titles like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Ghost Recon: Wildlands and XCOM 2 received no nominations.

Notably, the nominees include one game already available — Fallout Shelter, the base-builder for iOS devices that Bethesda Softworks surprise-announced at its first-ever E3 keynote on June 14. Fallout Shelter was nominated for Best Handheld Game.

Bethesda also picked up nominations for Fallout 4 and Doom, both for Best PC Game. Best of show nods went to Fallout 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, the PlayStation 4 exclusive coming from Guerrilla Games, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, the Oculus Touch controllers, and Battlefront.

Correction: Due to an editing error, a previous edition of this story said Fallout 4 had not received a best of show nomination. It did.
