Sony's troubled platform remains a fan favorite and releases like Severed, from Vita stalwarts Drinkbox Studios, have helped the platform remain alive. (Here's our 9/10 review, which calls it an "expertly executed cocktail of mechanics that would work as well on a comparatively diminutive smartphone screen" which seems, now, somewhat prescient).
While not a smartphone release, if you've resisted opting into Sony's handheld platform and have a Nintendo console at home, you'll be able to get your styluses on Severed this summer. Revealed during YouTube's E3 livestream today, Severed is the latest indie title to find its way onto Nintendo eShop platform.
[Update: There will be a smartphone release! From a press release sent out the following day: "We're very pleased to be able to bring Severed to major touch-enabled platforms," said Graham Smith, Co-Founder of Drinkbox Studios. "The game's recent release on the Vita was well-received by critics and fans alike, and we look forward to bringing the experience to Apple and Nintendo fans."]
