The upcoming remaster of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will be available only to buyers of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, and on PlayStation 4, people who pre-purchase the associated editions of Infinite Warfare will be able to play the remaster early, Sony and Activision announced today.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is included with Infinite Warfare's Legacy Edition and Digital Legacy Edition (both $79.99), as well as the Digital Deluxe Edition ($99.99) and Legacy Pro Edition ($119.99). Customers who pre-purchase any of those editions on PS4 will be able to play Modern Warfare Remastered on Oct. 5 — 30 days before the Nov. 4 release date of Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare Remastered.
The offer applies only to Modern Warfare Remastered's single-player campaign. The current-generation remaster of the 2007 first-person shooter also includes its influential multiplayer component, albeit with only 10 maps; that portion of Modern Warfare Remastered will remain locked until the public launch.
Note that a "pre-purchase" is not the same thing as a "pre-order"; the former refers to a transaction on the PlayStation Store in which you put down your money ahead of time, rather than just a reservation (as with a pre-order). The Modern Warfare Remastered promotion is valid on the PlayStation Store and at participating retailers.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is developed by Raven Software, with Infinity Ward — the studio behind the original game and Infinite Warfare — serving as executive producer. For more on the project, check out the E3 2016 trailer below.
