Kick ass and then kick back with Yakuza 0's take on 1980s Japan

Disco, 'telephone clubs' and head-bashing are leisure pursuits in the gangster game

After a hard day of beating ass galore in Tokyo, how does a yakuza max and relax? Why darts, the dance club or maybe a little phone sex. Here's the E3 2016 trailer for Yakuza 0, the Vice City of Sega's Japanese gangster franchise.

All the indulgences of the 1980s — it was a wild time for Japan, too — are available in Yakuza 0, which comes to the West as a PlayStation 4 exclusive sometime early next year. Sega's E3 trailer for the game sets up this prequel to the venerable action-brawler series, and sheds a little light on Kiryu's past and how that shapes his path in the rest of the Yakuza franchise.

Yakuza 0, which has been out in Japan since March 2015, will also offer the chance to play as Goro Majima, the "Mad Dog" who to now has been only an NPC in the game.

Yakuza 0 will release in retail stores but it won't be available on PlayStation 3.
