The Artful Escape is coming to Xbox One and Windows 10, Microsoft announced during its E3 2017 press conference today.
The game, developed by studio Beethoven and Dinosaur, will feature Xbox One X enhancements when it launches for the console, although the trailer didn’t include a release date. Instead, expect The Artful Escape to launch “when it’s damn ready,” according to the teaser.
The game began life as a Kickstarter project called The Artful Escape of Francis Vendretti back in 2016. Although it failed to meet its funding goal, it found a publisher in Annapurna Interactive. The company recently put out What Remains of Edith Finch, a similarly unique and aesthetic-driven title.
The Artful Escape stars a man who uses the power of music to traverse a painterly world. We spoke to the lead designer Johnny Galvatron, a former musician based in Australia, just before the Kickstarter project ended in March 2016. Check that out for more from the game’s early stages.
