Star Wars Battlefront 2’s single-player campaign is at E3, we’ve seen it

Impressions from our closed-door session with an early level from the game

Star Wars Battlefront 2 has a single-player campaign, which should please discerning fans like John Boyega. Polygon’s Nick Robinson and Patrick Gill had a chance to go hands-on with the game at this year’s EA Play and sat down to share their impressions.

The tiny sliver of gameplay was shown for press behind closed doors. The star of the show was Inferno Squad Commander Iden Versio, a capable Imperial clad in all-black armor, and began with her flying into battle at the controls of the classic TIE fighter.

Representatives from EA’s Motive studio were on hand to fill in the narrative gaps. They explained how the gameplay spans a time period from the end of Return of the Jedi all the way to The Force Awakens.

EA took time during it’s pre-E3 press conference to announce that all of the game’s DLC will be free of charge. We also spoke with representatives of Criterion Studios to discuss how the game has revamped its starfighter gameplay.
