From Beyond Good and Evil 2 to Far Cry 5 and everything in between, Ubisoft’s press conference did not disappoint.
Let’s focus on one of the best parts of the show: Beyond Good and Evil 2. After waiting for close to 15 years, we’re finally getting a sequel to Ubisoft’s 2003 title. The publisher played the first cinematic trailer for the sequel, which appropriately included a line of dialogue that sums up how we all feel: “It’s about bloody time.”
Aside from Beyond Good and Evil 2, there was another game that stole the show as far as we’re concerned: Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot brought out iconic Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto for an adorable presentation about the combining worlds. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle isn’t like any Super Mario game that has been seen before. The game brings other titles like XCOM to mind; it’s a turn-based tactical video game that manages to maintain the classic art style of Mario levels but with Rabbids and tactical action. The game is also exclusive to the Switch.
Unsurprisingly, Ubisoft spent some time looking at anticipated titles like Assassin’s Creed: Origins and Far Cry 5. Assassin’s Creed: Origins was first shown at Microsoft’s Xbox conference on Sunday. Ubisoft released two trailers for Far Cry 5, the first focused a little bit more on the story and the second was all about gameplay.
The publisher also introduced a new IP, Skull and Bones. The game lets players captain their own ships and battle others vessels for booty in an attempt to provide “the complete pirate experience.”
