Starlink: Battle for Atlas is the new toys-to-life game from Ubisoft. It will allow players to create a team of starfighter pilots and directly control them in battle against an enemy known as the Forgotten Legion.
At the center of the experience is a novel set of collectible starship toys. Each one of them can be physically altered by swapping out weapons at specific hardpoints on the wings and hull. They can then be attached to player’s controllers, and will be recognized by the game. Ubisoft also showed off a custom attachment system for the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con grip.
The trailer, embedded above, gives a taste of the storyline, but mainly focused on the environments players would be flying to and through. There were wide open starfields, cramped canyons and massive megafauna that looked straight out of No Man’s Sky.
Ubisoft tells Polygon that the game is expected in Fall 2018 and will be available on all current generation consoles including the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One.
