Battlefield 5 trailer provides a dramatic tease of its War Story mode

The return of Battlefield’s War Story campaign digs into the story of Nordlys

Battlefield 5 multiplayer footage premiered at EA Play yesterday; today we got our first look at the game’s War Story campaign mode. Revealed during Microsoft’s E3 2018 press conference, the gameplay digs into the story of Nordlys.

DICE has teased the storyline previously, showing a brief few seconds of a cutscene. Today’s tease shows only a few seconds more. We know that the main character, shown here in goggles, is a child who will soon join the Norwegian resistance to Nazi occupation. Their goal will be reunification with their family.

The War Story mode was a widely praised addition to the series in Battlefield 1. Rather than a single, long campaign, War Story divides the campaign into vignettes. EA reps have promised Battlefield 5 will focus on some of the overlooked stories of World War II.

Battlefield 5 is set for release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Oct. 19.
