Square Enix confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 3 will finally be released worldwide on Jan. 29, 2019. Players in Japan will get the game a few days earlier on Jan. 25.
Director Tetsuya Nomura made a surprise appearance at the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour in Los Angeles on Saturday night to share the news through a trailer. While recordings of the trailer itself were restricted, fans that got first dibs on the news were quick to share on social media. The Kingdom Hearts team later confirmed the date on Twitter, although the trailer itself has yet to be shown.
We’ve announced the release day for KINGDOM HEARTS III ahead of E3 at the KINGDOM HEARTS Orchestra -World Tour-. I’m sorry that we’re asking for a little more time than initially planned. Please look forward to other information, including a few trailers at E3. Thank you - Nomura

In 2017, another trailer shown at Disney fan convention D23 first shared that the game was expected to launch in 2018. “I’m sorry that we’re asking for a little more time than initially planned,” Nomura wrote on the tweet. “Please look forward to other information, including a few trailers at E3.”
For those who have waited so long with only side games and teasers to hold them over, hopefully the wait is nearly over, and it will all have been worth it.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
