The late-night press conference from indie publisher Devolver Digital tends to be ridiculous, but an extended riff about a new cryptocurrency called “Lootboxcoin” seemed like just another silly joke ... until we realized that yes, you can buy one. As of this writing, one coin is $131. That value is not based on anything.
“The officially unofficial Lootboxcoin from Devolver Digital as seen in the Devolver Digital 2018 E3 Press Conference,” the item description states. “Please note that this coin is 2.5” in diameter and has no actual value and by no means is to be considered cryptocurrency or a currency of any kind. You can’t buy anything with it. In fact, it’s insane for you to really buy it unless you want to prove your loyalty to Fork Parker, Nina Struthers (Chief Synergy Officer), and the Devolver Digital executive board.”
I lied above when I said that the price as of this writing is $131, because it’s now $145 and I don’t know why. I don’t think they know why. I think the price is going to continue to change.
My boss won’t let me expense room, and I really don’t think you should buy one either.
