Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is coming out on Oct. 5, 2018.
We got to spend some time with the E3 build of the game, running in 4K on the Xbox One X.
In Odyssey, you play as either Alexios or Kassandra — two mercenaries living in Greece during the Peloponnesian War in 431 BC. The player does not swap between the two characters, as seen in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate with Jacob and Evie Frye.
Mike and I are playing the same missions, but as different characters. I wanted to show you parts of both of those playthroughs, so that you can get a better idea of what Odyssey has to offer.
We started at level 18 with a full set of special abilities, about 15 hours into the game, Ubisoft says. You can see these in a diamond shape on the lower left during combat.
These abilities can be fully upgraded through skill trees, and include things like being able to rip soldiers’ shields away, self-healing and Spartan kicking them into oblivion.
In Odyssey, Ubisoft has also added dialogue choices — you’ll see at 10 minutes in the video above. Skip to 3 minutes for a 150-man battle on a beach, which looks appropriately dramatic.
At 34 minutes you can see the game’s skill trees and gear. And finally, at 37 minutes, I have a debate with Socrates. To learn more about Odyssey, check out our video about the three biggest changes. Mike and I talk a lot more in-depth about everything I’ve mentioned here.
