Trover Saves the Universe is a new, whacky game from Rick and Morty’s co-creator

Sure it’s weird. But it looks hilarious.

Trover Saves the Universe, from a co-creator on Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty, is a weird-as-hell platform adventure coming to PlayStation 4 and Playstation VR. Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the game this evening during its E3 2018 keynote. The game’s unconventional story is being written and voiced by Justin Roiland.

In the middle of an unusually eclectic E3 show, Sony teased the game with a one-minute trailer highlighted by a nonchalant main character (presumably Trover?) who demonstrates the game’s action before he is electrocuted in his bathtub. Roiland, in the familiar voice he supplies for Rick and Morty, jumps into the scene as another character, presumably Trover’s sidekick, to scream for help.

It’s weird.

But that’s what’s on the table when you’re dealing with a game from Rick and Morty’s co-creator. Squanch Games, Roiland’s development shop, is making the game. Trover Saves the Universe is coming exclusively to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR, and no specific launch date has been given.
