Octopath Traveler, the Nintendo Switch-exclusive, turn-based role-playing game developed by Square Enix, is headed to the console in July, but fans will get a chance to try the game out a little earlier than that.
Nintendo announced during its E3 2018 Nintendo Direct presentation that Octopath Traveler will get a brand-new demo released on June 14, and that all progress players make in the demo will transfer over to the full game when it releases a month later on July 13.
Octopath Traveler is a 2D, turn-based RPG in the style of Chrono Trigger and other 16-bit Squaresoft games. The game will allow players to choose from one of eight different playable characters who will each progress through the story and interact with other characters a little differently. The demo released on June 14 will be the second for Octopath Traveler; the first, which was released back in September 2017, helped generate helpful player feedback that the developers used to improve the game.
