Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the next entry in Nintendo’s fighting game series for Nintendo Switch, will support your old GameCube controller. Nintendo announced today that the de facto gamepad for Super Smash Bros. players can be used to fight, as can a single Joy-Con or Nintendo Switch Pro Controller.
Nintendo added support for GameCube controllers to Switch last year via a system software update. Switch owners will need the Wii U GameCube controller adapter in order to use their old gamepads.
Ultimate will support all existing amiibo, and data from those amiibo can be transferred to the new game.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. The game will include every playable character that has ever appeared in the Smash Bros. series, including the return of Ice Climbers, Pac-Man, Sonic the Hedgehog and Solid Snake, as well as a few new ones: the Inklings from Splatoon and Daisy from the Super Mario series.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is coming to Nintendo Switch on Dec. 7.
