Fortnite was released on the Nintendo Switch shortly before noon ET yesterday, and the game has already racked up 2 million downloads on the Switch eShop, according to Nintendo.

Fortnite’s launch went extremely well — we had more than 2 million downloads in less than 24 hours,” Reggie Fils-Aime, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America, told Polygon in an interview at E3 2018 today. “I think that speaks to the power of the franchise, the engagement of our players and the resonance of being able to play it anytime, anywhere.”

The game’s release on the Switch also caused a major controversy over how Sony and Nintendo’s systems interact with each other via third-party games. Many players are furious that they can’t access their official Fortnite account on the Nintendo Switch if they’ve played the game at some point in the past on PlayStation 4.
