Days ahead of E3 2018, Electronic Arts offered Star Wars fans a brief tease of the new game from Titanfall developer Respawn Entertainment during its EA Play press conference. Respawn’s game is called Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and will focus on a dark time in the Star Wars timeline when the Jedi are being hunted.
Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella confirmed the game’s name and its release window: holiday 2019.
Based on Zampella’s description, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be set between Episodes III and IV of the Star Wars film universe. According to an official announcement, Jedi: Fallen Order will tell an original story of “a surviving Padawan set shortly after the events of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.”
EA and Respawn announced their Star Wars action game in 2016, revealing that former God of War director Stig Asmussen was helming the third-person action-adventure project. The game was part of EA’s longterm exclusive arrangement with Disney and Lucasfilm to developer Star Wars games. EA acquired Respawn in 2017.
Respawn is also working on a new game in the Titanfall franchise and a still-untitled virtual reality game for Oculus Rift.
