Sea of Solitude looks like a lovely tale of suffering

German indie game aims for the heart

Electronic Arts showed its indie pickup Sea of Solitude from Jo-Mei at its EA Play 2018 conference today, another title in its EA Originals indie publishing program. It’s the story of a young woman called Kay who is suffering from loneliness, and so becomes a monster. The game is about bringing her back to humanity

Sea of Solitude is by far the most artistic and personal project I’ve ever created,” said Cornelia Geppert, the game’s writer and creative director, in an article from EA. “At times it is very challenging to dig that deep into your own feelings like core fears, longing and anger, but at the same time it is the most fulfilling thing to express those very feelings by putting it to people through art.”

Sea of Solitude looks to be a third-person exploration-platform-puzzle adventure. It’s due out early next year for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
