Ubisoft reveals details on Episode 1 and 2 of The Division 2’s post-launch plans

Welcome to the D.C. jungle

Ryan Gilliam (he/him) has worked at Polygon for nearly seven years. He primarily spends his time writing guides for massively popular games like Diablo 4 & Destiny 2.

At Ubisoft’s E3 2019 Showcase, Massive Entertainment revealed details on some of The Division 2’s upcoming free content.

The focus of the presentations was on Episode 1, the first major release for The Division 2 after the Operation Dark Hours raid. Episode 1 is D.C. Outskirts: Expeditions, and comes out later this summer.

The content focuses around players expanding out of the ruined metropolis of D.C. and into more rural areas. Like all new episodes, players can embark on new story missions. But D.C. Outskirts’ draw is the new mode, which takes place inside a college campus. Massive didn’t give players much information on what the new activity will entail.

Episode 2 will take players to the Pentagon. Massive will also release The Division 2’s second raid this fall as part of Episode 2.

The Division 2’s episodic content is free. Players with the Year 1 pass will receive additional cosmetics and get to play the new content early.

Additionally, between June 13 and June 16, Ubisoft is hosting a free weekend for The Division 2.
