Rage 2’s first expansion coming later this year

Rise of the Ghosts adds a new story and more

Rage 2 developers Avalanche Studios and id Software are bringing a host of new features to the game in a series of updates that includes the game’s first expansion, according to a trailer that debuted during publisher Bethesda Softworks’ E3 press briefing.

Weekly content updates — or, as the trailer puts it, “new s#%t dropping weekly” — will consist of additions like cheats (such as low gravity), vehicles (like the Armadillo), game modes, enemies, and pilotable mechs. The developers are also working on Rise of the Ghosts, an expansion that will introduce more story content, new weapons and abilities, another enemy faction, and new areas to explore in the wasteland.

The trailer did not provide a release window for Rise of the Ghosts, although the trailer’s YouTube description says the expansion will be available “later this year.”

Rage 2 was released in May on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. For more on the game, check out our review.
