Limgrave Tunnels is a hidden dungeon in Elden Ring’s West Limgrave area. It’s also a veritable smorgasbord of Smithing Stones, consumable items for upgrading your weapons. In this Elden Ring Limgrave Tunnels walkthrough, we’ll show you how to defeat every enemy, find every item, find the hidden floor, and beat the Stonedigger Troll boss.
Preparing for Limgrave Tunnels
Buy and equip a torch, which Santa Kalé sells at the Church of Elleh for 200 runes. It’s not necessary, but it’s helpful in a cave.
Buy Cracked Pots from Kalé for 300 runes each. They’re the items in which you place the things you craft, like Fire Pots. Buy the Crafting Kit, too. You can then craft Fire Pots and throw them at the bad guys.
Enemies in Limgrave Tunnels are weak to magic, fire, and strike damage (like from a flail or mace).
If you don't have a shield with 100% Physical damage, consider getting one because it allows to absorb a lot of damage while blocking. If you don’t have one, our guide to finding the Beast Crest Heater Shield will help. It shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes to acquire Elden Ring’s best early-game shield.
1F
We’re using Zelda-inspired dungeon floor naming here. We start at 1F and work our way down.
From the ground floor, walk to the left of the elevator, where you’ll see two wooden barrels. Walk off the ledge, and fall onto a rock outcropping. Follow the tunnel there, and loot the corpse for Golden Rune [4].
Jump down two two stone outcroppings below, lit by faint candlelight, and activate the Limgrave Tunnels site of grace below.
B1
Walk through the tunnel away from the site of grace, defeat the enemy on your left, and take the Smithing Stone [1] from where he was hammering on the wall.
Continue down the path and defeat the two enemies just down the short staircase. Take the Smithing Stone [1] from where one was hammering on the wall.
Take the staircase down, turn to your right, and defeat the enemy hammering away in the small alcove. Take the Smithing Stone [1] from the wall where he was hammering.
Continue down the path heading southwest, but be wary of the enemy hiding to your left behind a support beam and some wooden crates. In the dark room ahead are three rats. Kill them, and loot the body there for Smithing Stone [1].
Now double back, heading northeast, past everything you’ve killed, and into another tunnel that ends with another lift (or elevator, if you prefer). Ride it down.
B3
Yes, we’re on the third basement floor. It’s OK. We’ll explain that in a minute.
Head away from the left, through the tunnel, and into the room with he shack. Kill the dog int the shack, and pillage the remains for Large Glintstone Scrap, which is a consumable magic item. Crush it in your hands, and it’ll release a bunch of magic bolts. This is Elden Ring whispering to you, saying that things in here are weak to magic, and you should use this (but not yet).
Handle the dogs inside the shack, kill the guy chiseling on the wall, and collect the Smithing Stone [1].
Make your way behind the shack, and collect the Smithing Stone [1].
Get back on the lift, facing southeast, step on the pressure place, and ride it up. After a second or two, you’ll see an opening. Jump or roll off the edge, and you’ll wind up on B2. (If you miss the jump, you can always do the same thing but while riding it down. You can technically also use the same technique that we used on the first lift in here, jumping off the boards on the side from above, but that’s way more dangerous, and you’re likely to fall off and die.)
B2
Here on the hidden floor, there are two paths at the end of the entrance tunnel. Every enemy is dangerous, but some are more dangerous than others. Concentrate on the enemies who aren't actively mining the walls. There's one to the right, and there's one to the left. They're wearing backpacks, and they carry something like blowtorches.
Stand at the entrance of the tunnel, and wait for the one on the right to appear. Attack from range with magic or fire. That's the ideal. Kill it before it kills you.
Now kill the enemy mining in front of you and take the Smithing Stone [1] on the wall where it was chiseling.
Head west into a tunnel, and pillage the remains for Glintstone Scrap, which like the Large Glintstone Scrap we picked up on B3, lets anyone use a little magic and is great for the upcoming boss.
Kill the other walking backpack enemy, to the left of the tunnel entrance and two other wall chiselers, only one of whom has a Smithing Stone [1] on his patch of wall.
Continue down the path, and you’ll reach another lift. Instead of going down, do what you did at the first lift. Jump down on the left, and pillage the corpse for a Golden Rune [1]. Jump down to the outcropping below that, and collect a Somber Smithing Stone [1].
B4 and Stonedigger Troll boss fight
Is this the fourth floor? Let’s say yes.
Walk into the room with the large, wooden doors. Turn right and take the Smithing Stone [1] from the wall.
Open the wooden doors, and it’s time for the boss fight with the Stonedigger Troll.
Use the Large Glintstone Scrap and the Glintstone Scrap that you picked up earlier, and this boss fight becomes something like trivial because it’s exceptionally weak to magic damage.
Using ranged magic like this allows you to keep your distance. We wrote this above, but our guide to finding the Beast Crest Heater Shield can get you our favorite early-game shield with 100% Physical damage reduction in 15 minutes or less.
Defeat the Stonedigger Troll, and you’ll get the Roar Medallion, which strengthens the effects of any roar attacks that you might hace.
